2nd African International Symposium "Ecohydrology for Water"

2nd African International Symposium ‘Ecohydrology for Water, Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Resilience in Africa, which took place 7-9 November 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and the Advanced Training Course ‘Ecohydrology and Systemic Biotechnology Solutions for Implementation of Sustainability in Africa’, 10-11 November 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia were a successful events that brought together practitioners from different academic, governmental and NGOs environments to fortify research on implementation of the sustainable science – Ecohydrology.
The event was jointly organized by:
- Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity (MoWIE),
- UNESCO International Hydrological Programme, Ecohydrology Programme, and
- European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The symposium took place in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, 7-8 November, and was followed by a one-day field trip to Asella Bioeconomy Park and its Addis Ababa based headquarter Bio-economy Africa, followed by the two days of the Advanced Training Course, 10-11 November 2016 for the selected participants.
The symposium gathered more than 180 delegates, including 40 speakers and 18 poster presentations, primarily from Ethiopia and Africa, as well as intercontinental speakers from Europe and Australia.
The Advanced Training Course brought together over 30 participants from six African countries (Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Tunisia, South Africa and Ethiopia) and 8 lecturers in ecohydrology from Poland, France, Italy, Australia and the Netherlands.
